The American Philosophical Association promotes the discipline and profession of philosophy, both within the academy and in the public arena. The APA supports the professional development of philosophers at all levels and works to foster greater understanding and appreciation of the value of philosophical inquiry.

Founded in 1996, the University of Washington Center for Philosophy for Children, connected with the Department of Philosophy, is an academic research center that is dedicated to empowering young people to think for themselves through introducing them to philosophy. The center is involved in both research and practice in philosophy for children and philosophy of childhood, and it serves as a national and international resource in the field of philosophy for children.

The Philosophy of Education Society is an international forum that promotes the philosophic treatment of educational practice, policy and research, advances the quality of teaching the philosophy of education, and cultivates fruitful relationships between and among philosophers, philosophers of education and educators.
