Group Study Rooms

Purpose

Group study rooms are a place where Pierce students can work and study together for classes. They are not intended for individual study, socializing, interviewing, Zooming, or formal tutoring.

Who can use the group study rooms?

To book a study room, you must be a currently enrolled Pierce College student. You can only reserve a room if you are enrolled for the current academic session. Study rooms may not be used by faculty or staff.

Study rooms are for groups of 2 or more students, and are not for individual use.

How long can I use the room for?

  • Students can reserve up to four half-hour blocks per day (2 hours total).
  • Since the rooms are in heavy demand, each group may book a maximum of 2 hours per day.
  • Reservations can be made up to two weeks in advance.
  • If your group is more than 15 minutes late, your reservation will be cancelled.

How do I make a reservation?

Please visit Group Study Room Reservations to get started.

Do I need to check out a key for the room?

Yes. Pick up your study room key from the Circulation desk at the time of your reservation. At least one other party from your group must be present when picking up the key.

Study Room Policies

Please share these rooms respectfully and in the spirit of cooperation. If issues arise, contact the Reference or Circulation Desk for assistance.

Reservations

  • Reservations are required. You may not use a study room without a confirmed reservation. Please check your student email for your confirmation.

  • Arrive for your reservation on time. If you are more than 15 minutes late, your reservation will be cancelled.

Respecting the Space

  • No food is allowed. All drinks must have lids. Eating in the room is considered a violation and may result in immediate removal. Groups wishing to eat should use the tables in the food court area.

  • No smoking, vaping, or controlled substances are permitted.

  • Keep voices low. Rooms are not soundproof. Repeated noise complaints will be documented as violations.

  • Do not leave personal items unattended. The library is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

  • Lights and the air purifier must remain on at all times.

  • Do not remove dry erase markers or erasers. Missing items will count as a violation.

When You Leave

  • Leave the room clean and in its original condition.

  • Do not allow others to enter the room after you vacate it. Make sure the door is locked behind you.

  • Report any damage immediately to the Circulation Desk. Unreported damage will count as a violation and you may be held responsible.

  • Return the key to the Circulation Desk promptly at the end of your reservation to avoid fines or loss of checkout privileges.

  • During the last hour before closing, all rooms must be vacated at least 10 minutes before the library closes.

Lost Key Policy

Students who fail to return a study room key must pay a replacement fee and will lose key checkout privileges for the rest of the semester.

Violations

Students with three (3) documented study room violations will lose key checkout privileges for the remainder of the semester.
